Casal is a hunter, split along Household lines between Alyón and Haila. She is twelve years old at the time of the story. Her father is Rohth out of Alyón, and her mother is Shiloh out of Haila. She has golden hair, which she always keeps pulled back out of her face, and the sturdy build typical of her father's Household. She is a radiant cyberpath: senses clomen/electric energy, can mentally control electronic equipment without physical contact, hands itch and body restless when power builds up, can open and close Barrier, cannot call a storm. She grew up swapping parents whenever her parents met. In "Crossing," she considers herself more Haila than Alyón. She was trained in cyberpathy by her uncle. Casal enjoys the hunt.
